Android version of Office will launch the File Card feature this month

Microsoft’s Office applications on various operating systems (such as Windows, Android, and iOS) are heavily used by its customers, which is why the company regularly releases updates to introduce new features and enhance existing ones. Recently, it launched a dark mode for its Android version of the Office application, and now, it announced that it will launch a file card this month.

In short, the file card is a UI mode that provides users with inline information about the file in a more modern way, from which you can see the contextual data about the file and who shared it with the user. In addition, the card for each file will also provide you with quick operations, such as the ability to save offline or share with others. This feature will appear in the Recent and Share tabs of the Android version of the Office application.

As of now, the file card only supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files stored on OneDrive personal and business accounts. This means that if a file is only stored locally, it will not be able to preview its contextual information online. However, Microsoft has pointed out that it plans to roll out support for Word and PDF files on the device in the future.

Microsoft recommends updating to the Office for Android 16.0.14228.20138 version to take advantage of this new feature. On July 16, Android Office users have already received this version of the update, but it seems that there is still no file card user interface, which means that it is provided in a gradually released form. The wording of the company alone indicates that it will enable this feature for all users within this month, so if you are a frequent user of Office for Android, please stay tuned.
