Russian MED: Buyers of electric vehicles can enjoy up to 25% discount

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov reached a consensus on the conditions for obtaining discounts for electric vehicles.

In the end, the policy given by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development is: Russian electric car buyers can enjoy a discount of up to 25%. The use of electric vehicles in Russia lags far behind Europe, and there is currently no production of electric vehicles in Russia.

It is estimated that of the 45 million vehicles currently in use in Russia, only 11,000 are electric vehicles, and most of them are second-hand vehicles. In order to change the current status quo, the Russian government has formulated an ambitious electric vehicle development plan.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade previously stated that by 2030, 10% of all cars produced in Russia will be electric vehicles. Russia also plans to put into production 2,900 fast-charging stations by 2024, and build 27,000 fast-charging stations by 2030.
