GoPro’s revenue in the second quarter was $1 billion, an increase of 86% YOY

According to the latest news, outdoor sports camera manufacturer GoPro recently announced the second quarter of the 2021 financial report. The report shows that the company’s revenue reached 1 billion US dollars, an increase of 86% YOY. According to GAAP generally accepted accounting principles, net income was US$17 million, compared with a net loss of US$51 million in the same period last year.

GoPro stated that the net profit has been positive for four consecutive quarters. The reason for this success is to focus on building the company’s official website so that users can purchase products directly on the official website instead of through distributors.

In addition, GoPro pointed out in its financial report that the average retail price of its products at the end of the second quarter was US$345, a year-on-year increase of 15%. At present, the company has also launched a subscription service, which can realize unlimited cloud storage of complete image quality, change the camera for no reason, and unlock all the functions of the editing software.

GoPro said that the current number of paid subscriptions reached 1.16 million, an increase of 23% compared to the first quarter of 2021 and a YOY increase of 211%. GoPro also claimed that global camera sales reached 820,000 units this quarter, a year-on-year increase of 10%. At present, the latest model of the company’s Hero series is HERO 9, with a stand-alone price of 3298 yuan. This camera can shoot 5K resolution video, 20 million pixel photos, while supporting lens change, with a super anti-shake function.
