New iOS/iPadOS 15 development tools prioritize 5G over Wi-Fi

Apple today released a new developer tool designed to force those devices running iOS 15 and iPad OS 15 to preferentially use 5G connections when using insecure WiFi networks or when WiFi speeds are slow. Instead of WiFi connection.

Apple said that developers who wish to prioritize the use of 5G on their devices can do so by running the Beta 4 beta version of iOS 15/iPadOS 15 or higher and downloading the 5G Preferred Over WiFi configuration file.

The tool provides an option 5G prioritizes the Wi-Fi profile, which will automatically put the priority of the 5G connection before Wi-Fi. When your WiFi network is slow, or when you are forcibly connected or connected to an insecure WiFi network, 5G devices running iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 can automatically connect via 5G instead of WiFi first, Apple officially explained.

Apple previously introduced an upcoming feature on the iOS 15 Preview website that can automatically determine the priority of 5G in some cases. Although Apple did not disclose the threshold for switching devices from Wi-Fi to 5G, it is believed that the new developer tools set more aggressive indicators than the features built into iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

Install the 5G Preferred Over Wi-Fi profile on devices running iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 Beta 4 or higher to greatly increase the likelihood of seeing 5G prior to Wi-Fi connections, and to ensure Your network path logic is optimized for the case where 5G is preferred.
