The bubble is a key feature introduced in Android 11. Bubbles are similar to Facebook Messenger’s Chat Heads, when the user slides out of the call screen, the dialing application will take this behavior. Whenever a supported application receives a new notification, the notification will also appear here and float on the interface.

What seems to be changing forever is the ongoing call behavior on Android 12. Android Police pointed this out in the Beta 4 version of Android 12. The ongoing call is no longer Bubbles, but Chip.
Chip is a colorful pill-shaped icon used to display activities or processes in the background, such as screen recording. As pointed out by Android Police, during an outgoing call, the call chip will appear in the status bar, and once the answering party is connected, the call time will be displayed.
