Google Pixel Fold also appears in Android 12 Beta 4 and could arrive in 2021

For some time now there have been rumors that even Google would have plans to launch its own folding smartphone, in the wake of what has already been done by the other major mobile manufacturers, a device that insiders are identified with the name of Google Pixel Fold.

Recently, rumors have become more insistent that the Mountain View giant is already preparing its first folding device, which could be launched by the end of this year, perhaps together with Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

A new small confirmation for the Google Pixel Fold

And to support this hypothesis there is a reference to the folding device of Google found in the beta 4 of Android 12: among the many details contained in its code, in fact, there are also the nicknames of some devices, such as Oriole, Raven, Passport and Slider. Well, Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are respectively Oriole and Raven while Passport could be Google’s folding smartphone (this name, in fact, would have already emerged in the past).

In practice, the Mountain View giant may have wanted to confirm that the development of Google Pixel Fold continues and the smartphone should be able to count on the same 5G modem (made by Samsung) that will be implemented in Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

Unfortunately, this appearance of the alleged code name of Google Pixel Fold in the beta 4 of Android 12 does not confirm that the launch of this device is scheduled by the end of 2021 and indeed there are numerous insiders who believe that the Mountain View giant will decide to take more time, waiting for 2022 to bring the smartphone to market.

Without a doubt, the competition in this specific sector has become really fierce (just think of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G and Z Fold3 5G) and the Google team will not want to take the risk of making a bad impression.
