Xiaomi Testing New iOS-like Widgets in MIUI

Xiaomi is testing the new iOS-inspired widget system in China with the latest beta 5.0.56 of App Vault and 2.2.21 of MIUI Gallery. At the moment these app versions can only be installed on devices running a beta MIUI build based on Android 11.

According to Xiaomi, the new MIUI widget system will be in the test phase from 17 August to 20 October. This suggests that users on the stable MIUI channel, especially in international markets, will have to wait months to try the new feature. It, therefore, seems that widgets are making a comeback after Apple introduced them in iOS 14, in fact even Google has renewed the widget system with Android 12.
