Apple now offering annual AppleCare+ subscriptions for new Mac users

AppleCare+

AppleCare+

AppleCare+ is a high-end technical support service provided by Apple for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch. It also covers accidental damage. Apple has recently adjusted the charging model of AppleCare+ for Mac, which allows new users to purchase extended services in the form of annual subscriptions. Users are free to add a one-year renewal within 30 days after the service expires and renew once a year. Take the 16-inch MacBook Pro as an example. Its annual subscription is $139.99.

The above-mentioned changes seem to have not yet spread to the domestic market. Simply put, Apple has now allowed new Mac users overseas to purchase AppleCare+ annually instead of three years at a time. For example, the price of AppleCare+ for a 16-inch MacBook Pro is $140 per year. Previously, it had to be purchased for three years ($380), but there would be a premium of $41 (the premium for a 13-inch MacBook Air was $11).

Bloomberg pointed out that Apple started to allow Mac users to buy on their new devices about a month ago, but now they can finally buy the service from Apple retail stores, online stores, apps, and over the phone. Although this change is more flexible than a three-year service, it is also more expensive from a long-term perspective.
