Asia 5G smartphone shipments Q2 2021 report announced

Today Strategy Analytics released the latest research report, stating that in Q2 2021, Vivo will achieve the No. 1 shipment of 5G smartphones in the Asia-Pacific region for the first time. Among the top five mobile phone manufacturers, three are Chinese brands.

Overall, the shipment of 5G smartphones in the Asia-Pacific region has more than doubled year-on-year, with a growth rate of 110%. Specifically, in the second quarter, Vivo’s market share was 20.0%, Xiaomi ranked second with 19.3%, OPPO ranked third with 18.7% market share; Apple ranked fourth. Samsung ranked fifth with a 6.6% share.

A senior analyst at Strategy Analytics, said: Vivo is a leading smartphone manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region with annual shipment growth of 215%. In the past year, Vivo has surpassed Xiaomi, OPPO and Apple to become a 5G smartphone in the Asia-Pacific region. No. 1 in shipments. Vivo successfully took advantage of Huawei’s decline in market share (Huawei sold more than half of 5G smartphones in the Asia-Pacific region in Q2 a year ago). The shipment growth rate of Xiaomi 5G mobile phones in the second quarter reached 286%. Among them, Redmi Note 9 5G and Note 9 Pro 5G mobile phones, and Xiaomi 10 Youth Edition 5G are popular models.
