Twitter Super Follow feature only available on iOS users in the US and Canada

After the test started in February this year, Twitter’s Super Fans were officially released this Friday. Twitter creators with a large number of followers can set monthly fees of $2.99/4.99/9.99 USD. After the subscription revenue exceeds the $50,000 threshold, Twitter will charge creators’ subscription revenue.

At this stage, only iOS users in the United States and Canada can use the super fan feature. Twitter plans to expand to the global market in the next few weeks. As for the Android version and the web version of Twitter.com, it will also support super fans in the foreseeable future.

This feature was first discovered by researcher Jane Manchun Wong that Twitter seems to be generating separate SKUs for account holders using the new super fan feature, and the App Store treats each SKU as a unique in-app purchase.

Wong wrote in a tweet: Every charge for superfans is an in-app purchase on the App Store, but due to too many IAPs in the Twitter app, the App Store only displays 10 instead of the full list. Wong referred to Twitter’s App Store product page, which shows the top ten most popular in-app purchases. Since the handling of super fans is similar to discontinuous IAP, and the App Store prioritizes SKUs based on popularity, the current list is populated by personal accounts that activate this feature.
