WhatsApp iOS revealed the reactions and the new look of the messages

We return to talk about the most popular messaging app with two previews regarding messages: one purely aesthetic, the new aspect of the bubbles that enclose them, the other more substantial relating to reactions, a function in development by some weeks. The clues are taken from the test version of WhatsApp for iOS; the reactions will also arrive in the Android counterpart. Once again, WABetainfo colleagues provide the details.

At the end of August, a generic reference to the possibility of enriching the messages with reactions had emerged, but now we discover something more about how it works and how they will appear. The image below shows a message with reactions. In the lower right corner, there is an indication of the number of reactions associated with the message, 7 in the specific case. It is likely that the three immediately visible are the most recent ones.

The source reveals two details on how it works:

  • You can use any emoji
  • The reactions are not anonymous, the participants in the conversations will therefore be able to know who sent the reaction to a specific message

Being a feature under development – it is not yet even available for users using a beta version – it is not excluded that something may change in the course of work.

New Look For Chat Bubble

WhatsApp has introduced a change in the aesthetic of the bubbles that enclose the messages in version 2.21.13.2 for Android released in July and it seems that it is now working to bring the same functionality to iOS. The new bubbles have:

  • More rounded corners
  • New green color
  • A slightly larger size
  • A more modern look

This aesthetic overhaul of the chat bubble will be introduced with a future update of the app, according to timelines yet to be defined.
