Yahoo CEO announces his resignation as Dating app Tinder CEO succeeds

According to reports, Yahoo CEO Guru Gowrappan announced today that he will resign as CEO and will be succeeded by Dating App Tinder CEO Jim Lanzone. Private equity firm Apollo Global Management announced earlier this month that it had completed the acquisition of Yahoo from Verizon, with a transaction value of approximately US$5 billion.

Today, Yahoo CEO Gu Ranpan stated in a memo to employees that the company has opened a new chapter in history and now is a natural transitional moment. To this end, Gu Ranpan will be transferred to Apollo Global Management’s senior consultant.

At the same time, Tinder CEO Lan Zorn became the new Yahoo CEO, which took effect on September 27. Lanzon is an experienced technology and media leader with 20 years of leadership experience and outstanding performance in corporate growth, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In 2017, Yahoo was acquired by Verizon and then merged with AOL to form a new company, Oath. The CEO is Gu Ranpan, who served as the global general manager of Alibaba. Later, Oath changed its name to Verizon Media. Earlier this year, it was sold to Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm.
