Clubhouse hires NPR news director to handle publisher relations

According to the latest reports, Clubhouse hired a senior editor from NPR to lead the news release of the app. It is reported that Nina Gregory will serve as Clubhouse’s head of news and media publishers to work as a liaison between the news publishers and Clubhouse’s audio-based community ecosystem.

Gregory has led NPR’s Art Desk for the past 7 years and has shaped the news organization’s cultural and entertainment reporting. As an audio reporter, (Clubhouse) is consistent with what I have always considered the best news medium,” Gregory said in an interview with CNN. You don’t need to know how to read to hear broadcast news. You don’t need to have expensive subscriptions. you do not have cable television.

Helping publishers and other brands enter is one-way Clubhouse matures. Online media from USA Today to TechCrunch have established their own status on the app. Due to the new crown pandemic restricting people’s social interactions, the app has exploded. But as competition from more entrenched competitors is imminent, Clubhouse may need to innovate to maintain a competitive advantage.

The rapid rise of Clubhouse has caused Twitter, Spotify, Facebook and other mature technology companies to scramble to integrate live audio rooms into their products. Twitter quickly launched Spaces, and Spotify also launched an independent Clubhouse clone product called Greenroom. Facebook first announced its audio broadcast room in April, and it will be open to US users two months later.

Although the viral attention that Clubhouse has enjoyed over the past year is almost impossible to maintain, the company has added features, launched an Android app, and made it available to everyone. The clubhouse may not be able to surpass its peak in February, but after the app expanded to the Android system this summer, it still achieved 7.7 million global monthly downloads and continued to build its audio-first social network vision.
