Microsoft: Real-time collaboration of encrypted documents is open to Windows and Mac users

Microsoft today announced that the real-time co-authoring function for encrypted documents is now open to Windows and Mac users. When users are dealing with protected Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, this feature can collaborate with each other and make modifications in real-time. Previously, this feature was limited to Office on the web, but today, anyone who has subscribed to Microsoft 365 E3/A3/G3/E5/A5/G5 can use the new co-creation feature.

Paras Kapadia, Office 365 Chief Project Manager, explained: With Microsoft 365, when sensitive tags are used to encrypt Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents, multiple users can now edit these documents in real-time through AutoSave, allowing the team to keep the entire document alive. They complete their best work while protecting the cycle.

Microsoft pointed out that customers who want to try the collaborative experience can start deploying it by installing the latest Office Current channel or Monthly Enterprise channel update. Users can go to the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center to set up to enable and use the real-time co-authoring feature. You can find more details about the prerequisites for this feature on this support page.
