Samsung Galaxy Flex Note patent revealed

After the release of the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 folding screens last month, the company seems to have completely put the traditional Galaxy Note 21 series into the cold. However, on October 29, 2020, the South Korean technology giant submitted an interesting design patent to the National Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) and officially announced it to the outside world on September 21, 2021.

In the 30 images attached to the document, you can see two mobile devices that are identical except for the camera module. In addition to the surround screen, the S Pen stylus is also an important part of its interactive experience.

Looking back at Samsung’s Flex Note trademark application filed in July this year, Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital speculated that it might be the legendary Galaxy Flex Note concept smartphone.

As shown in the figure, this concept smart phone uses a screen that can be folded outward to ensure that the body is compact enough in the closed state. When the flexible screen is turned to the back of the fuselage, it will occupy about half of the area.

But what makes us more pleased is that Samsung even reserved the S Pen stylus storage slot for it. When the screen is folded, the stylus can be securely locked on the body by the screen assembly. When opened, the magnetic design prevents it from falling to the ground.

In order to eliminate the problem of inconsistent thickness of the fuselage on both sides when the folding screen is unfolded, the stylus storage position has also been quite cleverly designed. As shown in the figure above, the user can still lay the device flat on the desktop at this time.

Considering that the front camera opening is not visible in one of the designs, we speculate that this opportunity will use the hidden camera design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 under the screen.

The other uses a dual-punch front camera design, which implies that the device may be able to take photos and record videos through the front dual camera in normal use mode.

Finally, although it is not clear whether Samsung really plans to release this unique “Galaxy Flex Note” idea in the future, it is not entirely impossible.
