LineageOS does not wait and adds support for Pixel 5a

A few weeks after the launch, good news has arrived for Pixel 5a owners, thanks to the Android modding community, in fact, the first official custom ROM for this device has been developed, namely LineageOS 18.1. For now, we are still talking about weekly Nightly builds or not yet officially stable, but it is expected that the first stable version can arrive in these hours or next week.

The ROM has taken the place of the CyanogenMod as always so it was not long in coming and is ready to offer an alternative to those who prefer to have more control over their device or for those who intend to keep their smartphone for a long time.

The work done by the LineageOS developers is therefore commendable, as this is done and offered for free. Although Google’s phones enjoy good software support (Pixel 3 will receive the update to Android 12 despite being released with Android 9), LineageOS usually does better, such as in the case of Pixel 2, which is still actively being supported and regularly receives security patches, despite Google having stopped doing the same.

We know how much hardware the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5a have in common, so it’s no surprise how quickly LineageOS arrived on the device. Even two weeks ago the first unofficial build was published by the same developer who now takes care of the Nightly and the next stable version. Obviously, the LineageOS developer team does not only support Google smartphones, on the contrary, in recent months support for devices such as ASUS ZenFone 8, Poco F3 and various others has arrived.
