Now your videos can be downloaded via Chromium browser in YouTube public beta

YouTube is opening a public beta on the desktop browser, allowing users to download videos through official channels. This round of testing will continue until October 19, and all users interested in this feature can try it.

Operation method: Click the download button while watching the video, or click the three-dot menu while browsing. However, it should be noted that this feature is limited to the latest versions of Chromium-based Chrome, Edge and Opera, and does not support Firefox.

When you watch a video, you should see an option to download the video under the player. When you click on it, YouTube will download the video, and then you can watch it from the download section in the hamburger menu on the left side of the screen. There is currently no way to download the video and watch it outside the browser-this seems more like a way to watch YoTube videos offline.
