Tesla wants to build a new plant in California to produce energy storage batteries?

A California mayor posted on social media on Wednesday to reveal that Tesla had broken ground on a new Megafactory in his city, but the post was later deleted. Sonny Dhaliwal, the mayor of Lathrop in San Joaquin County, California, wrote in this post: We are proud to be the location of Megafactory, which is Tesla’s latest expansion here. The future of green energy will be born in our community.

This plant will produce Tesla’s industrial-grade energy storage battery Megapack. The city of Lathrop has long been the location of Tesla’s warehouse and logistics operations. Tesla’s flagship car plant in the United States is located in Fremont, neighboring Alameda County. The company is headquartered in Palo Alto.

If the news is true, it bodes well for California, because it proves that Tesla CEO Musk has not given up on developing business here. Musk moved to Texas in December last year and criticized California’s policies. Some people worry that Tesla’s business may leave the state.
