Chrome will launch a sidebar search feature similar to Microsoft Edge

Chrome team is experimenting with a feature called Side Search. Although it has not yet been launched in any Chrome branch, a recent merge commit feature on Chrome Gerrit provides more information for this upcoming feature.

This feature is similar to the sidebar search of the Microsoft Edge browser, and related search results will be displayed in the right area of the browser without opening a new tab. Chrome already has a sidebar that displays bookmarks and reading lists, so adding search functionality to it is not pioneering work.

In addition, Chrome Story found three related Flags in Chrome Gerrit:

  • Side search
  • Side search clear cache when close
  • Side search state per tab

However, these three experimental options have not yet appeared in Chrome. In addition to this feature, Google Chrome has also developed a new shopping feature that can automatically obtain discount coupons for users.
