Next year, Google will launch a new Nest Doorbell (wired) to support all-weather recording

The acclaimed Nest Hello has today ushered in its successor, and Google today announced that it will launch the Nest Doorbell (wired) next year. The new Nest Doorbell supports 24/7 recording, will work with the Google Home app (rather than the Nest app), and is planned to be marketed in 2022.

Rishi Chandra, general manager of Google Nest, shared the news in a blog post published today on the Google Nest community paper. He wrote in his blog post: We promise to be more transparent to you and tell you where we will push the camera portfolio. We know that those with wired doorbell connections prefer to have one that can also support 24/7 video history. Doorbell (subscribed via Nest Aware). We are happy to share that we will launch the second-generation Nest Doorbell (wired) in 2022.

At present, the official has not announced the details of the new Nest Doorbell (wired), and we do not know whether it will have offline storage and battery backup in the event of a power failure. This is a feature of Google’s latest battery-powered Nest camera and doorbell. The current Nest Doorbell (wired) also has some features that the Nest Doorbell (battery) does not have, including the integration of Alexa and SmartThings, a wider field of view, a larger zoom, and a 2K color sensor. In addition, by subscribing to Nest Aware, you can get sound alerts (people talking, dogs barking).
