There are still rumors that the third-generation AirPods will be available in 2021

According to DigiTimes, although the third-generation AirPods did not appear at the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 conferences at the beginning of last month, they are still expected to be launched before the end of this year. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on the weekend before Apple’s September 14 California Call event that the third-generation AirPods will be unveiled at the all-digital event.

Although this did not happen, it is rumored that the new AirPods have begun mass production, and Apple seems to be preparing to launch them before the end of the year. The new AirPods will be the first major update to the AirPods lineup since AirPods Pro three years ago.

The new AirPods are expected to adopt an updated design, inspired by the higher-end AirPods Pro, but lack the Pro function. The rumors about whether the new AirPods will use silicone earplugs are unclear because the leaked pictures and renderings depict two possibilities.

Apple announced its AirPods Pro through a press release in 2019. Except for the first announcement of this product line on stage in 2016, AirPods has not yet had a dedicated display time at the Apple conference. Apple may announce the new third-generation AirPods through a press release in the next few weeks, or include it in the rumored second conference in the fall, all of which is expected to happen later this month or in November.
