Reddit hires former Google cloud computing chief as its first chief product officer

Reddit announced today that it has hired Pali Bhat, former vice president of product and design for Google Cloud, as the company’s first chief product officer. Bhat’s mission is to oversee Reddit’s product organization and lead the development of the platform’s tools and features. In his new position, Bhat will report directly to Reddit CEO Steve Huffman.

The company said that Bhat will lead and promote the creation of tools and features, with a focus on bringing community and belonging to Reddit. Bart brings more than 15 years of the leadership team and product expertise, involving developer platforms and consumer services, including several Google flagship services.

Before joining Reddit, Bhat held senior leadership positions at Google for more than 10 years. He recently led a team of nearly 1,000 people composed of engineers, product managers, user experience designers, and researchers, responsible for a rapidly growing product suite. Bart also served as vice president of product management, leading Google’s global payment products. Prior to Google, Bhat held leadership positions at SAP Labs and McKinsey & Company.
