Twitter web version will allow users to soft block fans

According to the latest report, Twitter’s web version is launching a new feature that allows users to delete fans without blocking them. This action is also known as soft blocking. To soft block a fan, the user needs to enter the fan list page of the profile, click the three-dot menu next to the fan’s name, and then click the delete fan option. Fans deleted by the user will not be notified of this change.

The soft block is different from block because it allows fans to still see the user’s tweets and send private messages, but the content posted by the user will no longer automatically appear in the fan’s message stream. When a user deletes a fan, they can follow the user again if they want.

This new method of Twitter is easier than the previous method because the previous method requires the user to manually block and unblock someone. The ability to delete followers is Twitter’s newest feature, giving users more control over their experience on the platform to help curb abuse and harassment. In September, the company began testing a new security mode feature that can temporarily automatically block abusive accounts, but it is unclear when it will be rolled out more widely.
