Microsoft announced today that the official version of Visual Studio 2022 will be released on November 8. Microsoft today also announced the availability of Visual Studio 2022 Release Candidate (RC) and Preview 5. The RC version comes with a system online license for production use.
The following is the updated content of Visual Studio 2022 Preview 5
- Added support for Xcode.
- Fixed an issue where the panel in the project overview page, diagnostic tool and performance analyzer may appear very enlarged under certain multi-monitor settings.
- A warning notification is issued when x13, x14, x23, x24, and d16-d31 are accessed in the ARM64EC code.
- Improved support for hot reload editing during test runs. The editing experience of the following operations has been greatly improved, and hot reloading is now supported during test runs: adding tests, adding data rows in the theory, adding classes, and adding asynchronous methods.
By installing the Visual Studio 2022 RC release version, you can now prepare for the general availability (GA) of Visual Studio 2022. The GA version of Visual Studio 2022 is fully supported by Microsoft. Both RC and GA versions have online licenses for production use.
If you want to use Visual Studio to build production-ready applications and projects and accept fewer feature updates, you can choose to use the RC version. After the official version is released, the RC version will be updated to the GA version.
If you want to try the latest features of Visual Studio 2022, you should use Preview 5 version. When released, the Preview 5 version will be updated to Visual Studio 2022 17.1 Preview 1 and will include the latest features the team is developing.
If you have an enterprise or professional license and have been using that version, you can simply update to the preview 5 or RC version, and then log in with a subscription user account. If you are eligible to use the Community Edition, then you can also update to Preview 5 or the RC version. If you do not have a license or cannot use the Community Edition, then there is a trial version for you to try Visual Studio 2022.
