Windows KB5006670 update causes printing failures on some network printers

On the October 10 Patch Tuesday event day, Microsoft released the cumulative update KB5006670. This update contains bug fixes, security updates, and Windows service improvements that have been tested. By default, this cumulative update is automatically installed for all users as soon as possible, but it seems to cause new problems for some people.

The KB5006670 cumulative update seems to cause problems with network printers. Many users reported that the update would prevent network printers from printing. A user reported that: When trying to print with a network printer driven by Type 4, there is no response for about 15 seconds.

Another user left a message in the Reddit community: After the KB5006765 or (my guess) KB5006672 update, it seems that many Windows Servers (2019) set the network type to private instead of domain. This will cause applications Incorrect Windows firewall settings. Restarting nla-service (network location awareness) can solve the problem (the network type is domain again) until the next restart.

It is worth noting that this problem is not widespread, and not all users have encountered network printing problems, but there seem to be some other problems in the latest Windows 10 update. For example, some users shared that their device was unable to download and install KB5006670, another user reported that their device crashed due to a blue screen of death, and a third user emphasized the problem of the smart card and stylus.

The newly released update of Windows 10 also encountered a situation where it could not be installed and displayed an error message such as 0x8007000d. This mysterious error message was reported earlier this year and last year. The update failure is accompanied by other message errors, similar to: “We will try to download the update again later.
