Gurman: Apple considered cloud gaming services but has not implemented it

In addition to Apple Arcade, Apple is considering launching its own cloud gaming service. This new service is similar to NVIDIA’s GeForce Now and Google’s Stadia. By rendering games in the cloud and transmitting real-time video to the user’s device, this new service provides gamers with a high-quality way to play. In Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter on Sunday, Mark Gurman was asked if Apple is developing such a service. In this regard, Gurman said that Apple has thought about this issue, but has not carried out this project.

Gurman said: Apple Arcade is unique in that it relies on games that run natively on its devices, not cloud gaming services. He pointed out the main difference between the Apple Arcade service and other cloud gaming services. Although Microsoft, Nvidia, Google and other companies use cloud gaming to provide broader gaming support because they handle graphics on behalf of host devices, this is not a completely level playing field. Although Apple Arcade games can be used in the App Store, Appleā€™s policy actually prevents other cloud gaming services from operating in a typical on-demand manner on the App Store.
