Google Messages Now Reminds You For Unanswered Messages

Google is rolling out a new feature that will notify you in Messages if you haven’t replied to your last message for a while. You can also have those memories reappear later when it suits you better. We explain how the function works.

Google Messages

We receive so many notifications every day that can be both work and privacy-related. It is therefore not surprising when we miss a message and forget to send a reply. On the Pixel 5, I saw for the first time this morning that Google sent a reminder for a missed message in Google Messages.

This is a message that I had not replied to and had not read. I had received the message in question at 8:57 PM and a reminder appeared on my phone at 2:37 AM, so just under 6 hours later. In the notification, you will see the name of the sender and a preview of the message. From the notification, you can choose to stop the reminders, view the message or repeat the reminder in an hour.

Furthermore, you will also be reminded directly from the Messages app that you missed something. Under the message in question, the text Missed reminder will appear and when you open the conversation, you will see a floating notification at the top of the screen. You can also stop the reminders for that message, or have a new reminder sent in an hour.

Those who are not in favor of this reminder will also be able to disable it from the Android settings. Go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Notifications. Then, under Reminders, turn off the switches.
