What changes did Google bring to the Android 12 update push?

With the launch of the Android 12 update push, BGR also helped everyone summarize its major changes. Since the May I/O conference, Google has brought many adjustments to Android 12. The first is a major overhaul of the visual experience. The majority of users will experience a new theme system called Material You. Android 12 can extract colors from wallpapers and apply them flexibly to the overall system, and developers have more room to play.

Other visual adjustments include a new animation for the system. When the power button is pressed, the animation will also slide across the screen from the vicinity of the button, and the enlarged button makes it easier to click. Christian de Looper said that one of his favorite changes is the Android 12 lock screen interface. It now displays a large clock by default, and when there are notifications, it will become slightly smaller.

Then came the redesign of the Quick Tiles. The Quick Tiles on Android 12 are much larger than those on Android 11 and replaced with rounded rectangles instead of circles.

Privacy Improvements: Android 12 introduces a new privacy dashboard that can help users understand in more detail how apps in Android access relevant information (such as location, microphone, etc.), and allow quick adjustment of corresponding permissions. In terms of positioning, Android 12 now allows users to grant relatively accurate or approximate geographic location information.

Notification: Android 12 system notifications are undergoing some changes. The grouping is more logical and the operation is more comfortable.

Wireless Sharing: In Android 12, users only need to go to Wi-Fi settings, and then they can choose to share Wi-Fi passwords via a QR code.

One-Handed Mode: Android 12 introduces a new native one-handed mode support, users who need it can activate it in the “Settings” option. You can then swipe down at the bottom of the screen to easily access everything on the screen.

Streamlined Power Menu: After the update, Android 12 users can long-press the power button to activate the Google Assistant voice assistant. Most of the controls in the power menu have been transferred to the quick settings.

Device Face Control: Google has provided auxiliary functions for a long time, but Android 12 brings new options that allow users to control all aspects of the phone through facial movements.

With the end of the official test period, interested friends can manually get Android 12 from now on. Non-Google “pro son” Pixel series smartphone users may have to wait for a while. If you have a compatible device (such as Google Pixel 3), you can refer to the following methods to manually obtain OTA updates:

  • Open the settings application;
  • Scroll down to system;
  • Click on advanced -> System Update.
