Apple, with Safari 15.1 for Catalina and Big Sur returns the classic design of the cards

After the step backward made in the Safari browser of macOS Monterey, in which it was decided to restore the design more of the tabs with a more classic one than expected, Apple has made this update also available for users who have Big Sur and Catalina with the release of Safari 15.1 which arrives about a month after the beta.

Safari 15 has undergone multiple changes since its announcement in June at WWDC 2021, exactly as it did on the iOS 15 version. Users, in fact, seem not to have particularly liked the new design that unified the tab bar with the address bar.

After the launch of the first beta of macOS Monterey, Apple had first decided to add an option to separate the tabs from the address bar and then change again the layout considered less practical than previous versions. Similar changes were also made in Safari 15 released separately for Big Sur and Catalina.

Finally, with the public release, the Cupertino company has decided to completely restore the classic design of the tabs on Safari for users who choose the Separate option in the browser settings. However, the new unified layout is still available and is enabled by default.

To install Safari 15 on your Mac based on Big Sur or Catalina you need to go to System Preferences and click on Software Update. The option to restore Safari to the old design is found in the Tabs menu within the browser preferences.
