Chrome Tab Search tests the Fuzzy Search feature

One of the built-in features of the Chrome browser is that it can display recently visited and closed tabs. In the latest version of the Canary channel, Google has enabled Fuzzy Search in the Tab Search UI to help users find these tabs more easily.

In Chrome, you need to click the down arrow on the toolbar to view all the tabs you have opened, and then you can search for the tabs you want. The Tab Search layout will display and search for recently closed tabs.

What is Fuzzy Search

When you search for a specific word or phrase, a list of matching results will be displayed. For example, in the case of tag search, if you enter “yt”, YouTube tag results will be displayed.

Enable Fuzzy Search

  • Open Chrome
  • Visit chrome: //flags
  • Search for “fuzzy”, select “Enabled” under “Fuzzy Search for Tab Search”, and restart the browser.

Google provides three options for the degree of blur, small, medium, and large, so choose a blur degree you like.

  • Visit some websites, press ctrl+Shift+A, or click the down arrow on the toolbar
  • Enter a query related to the website you opened in the tab, and the same fuzzy search results will be displayed.

Use ordinary tag search, you may not find what you are looking for, fuzzy search finds and displays everything that matches, without any specific order. For example, if the tag search has been filled with YouTube, typing “Yt” will not give you any results, and after enabling fuzzy search, the YouTube tag results will be displayed.
