Price increase again, MediaTek will increase WiFi 6 chip prices in Q1 2022

According to media reports on November 1st, due to the shortage of raw materials, supply chain companies such as Broadcom have given priority to ensuring Apple’s demand, resulting in the market’s demand for WiFi6 chips being unable to be met. At the same time, in addition to the tight supply chain, the major foundries have also indicated that they may raise prices again in the first quarter of 2022.

Both MediaTek and Realtek said that the price increase of foundries will lead to higher costs. Therefore, in the first quarter of 2022, the price of WiFi6 chips may increase by about 10%. Relevant sources in the industry said that the rise in chip prices will further push up the unit price of terminal products, and consumers will eventually pay for this part of the cost. Manufacturers such as MediaTek and Realtek declined to comment.
