Microsoft’s GitHub replaces CEO and is taken over by product director

According to reports, on Wednesday, Microsoft announced that GitHub CEO Nat Friedman stepped down, his position was replaced by GitHub product director Thomas Dohmke. Just a few weeks ago, GitHub’s main competitor, GitLab, was listed on the Nasdaq. After the listing, its valuation reached $16.5 billion. When Microsoft acquired GitHub in 2018, it was valued at $7.5 billion.

Domek will take over from Friedman on November 15. GitHub was founded in 2008, and Domek became a registered user of GitHub in 2009. He was the co-founder and CEO of HockeyApp, an App testing software startup, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2014. In 2018, Microsoft completed the acquisition of GitHub, so Domek joined GitHub.
