Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 emulator runs Android 12L

With the release of Android 12L, Google has rekindled many people’s interest in large-screen Android devices. In order to know how Android 12L introduced “additional features” to Galaxy Z Fold 3 folding screen devices, 9to5Google borrowed the Android Studio emulator to experience it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is equipped with a 7.6-inch @ 2208×1768 resolution flexible inner screen, and the first obvious change brought by Android 12L is reflected in the notification/quick settings tray (the update introduces a side-by-side layout). Interestingly, this is limited to the horizontal screen mode of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. But regardless of the vertical or vertical orientation, we can see Google’s experience in multitasking features enhanced.

The new multitasking screen has a large view to present an application, and there is a newly introduced “split-screen” shortcut below, and the remaining apps are displayed in the 4×4 grid on the left. The split-screen mode is also significantly related to the device orientation of Android 12L-if the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is in portrait mode, the windows can only be stacked on top of each other. But in horizontal mode, it will only be displayed side by side.

Although Android 12L’s multitasking window manager logic is the opposite of Samsung’s One UI design, at least Google still has enough time to optimize the adaptation. In addition, we saw the new taskbar of Android 12, which allows users to directly drag and drop the App icon from the Dock (up to 5 in a row under the main screen), and let it be presented in a split-screen mode without leaving the current application.

Finally, even though the first experience is very brief and some strange Android Studio emulator bugs have not been resolved, we are still full of expectations for the future development of Android 12L. If all goes well, Google is expected to provide the first full experience version of Android 12L in the first quarter of 2022.
