Google Messages: Send video via Google Photos when RCS is not available

In the latest APK Insight report of 9to5Google, the science and technology media, the native SMS/RCS application of the Android system was reverse-compiled. Google Messages may soon get a new feature that allows users to send videos through Google Photos when RCS is unavailable.

The option Google Photos: Share sharper clarity video in the text (SMS/MMS) appeared in the Google Messages 10.4 Beta version. This feature will appear in the app’s settings menu. According to the description of this setting, the recipient may receive a Google Photos link to click and watch the sender’s video.

Another possibility is that recipients who receive the Google Photos link may watch high-quality videos directly from the chat window in the Messages app. We can imagine that iOS users may need to open the link in the browser. Cloud sharing of large files is not a new concept. Samsung supports link sharing, uploading photos and videos to Samsung servers, allowing recipients to download via links accessed by any browser within a limited time. The first-party solution from Google would be a great idea because the video is no longer worthy of being heavily compressed and sent through an outdated protocol.
