Pixel 6’s Live Translate also works on older Pixels

Live Translate is one of the many features that debuted on Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro but, like other currently exclusive goodies such as Magic Eraser, it can actually also be used on previous generation Pixels. The official statement that the Live Translate function wants to hinge on the machine learning capabilities of the Google Tensor chipset would have already led to the exclusion of its official release for older Made by Google smartphones and, on the other hand, Big G has already confirmed that it does not all the new features of the Pixel 6 will be brought to the predecessors.

For the more curious users, however, there is a rather simple way to try Live Translate on their smartphone: as demonstrated by a user on Twitter, it is enough to sideload an application. In particular, the app to be sideloaded is the version of Android System Intelligence present on Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro, which can be easily found via APKMirror at this link (it is recommended to download the latest version). From what we learn, the installation procedure should be successful on Pixel series smartphones updated to Android 12, however, the outcome may vary depending on the model used.
