Microsoft: 2022 will focus on solving the problem of low performance of Windows

WinUI is the native UI platform in the Windows system, but it will be slow and sluggish under certain configurations. Windows 11 also uses WinUI for its core UI components. Although they look good, slow performance is an undesirable side effect of modern UI elements.

On Feedback Hub and social media platforms, users complained about performance issues when using WinUI or XAML UI elements in Windows 11. For example, the Windows file manager has been updated with a new command bar and a more modern interface based on WinUI.

Unfortunately, the poor performance and erroneous experience of File Explorer is an unwelcome side effect of WinUI. In a post in the feedback center, some users pointed out that their file explorer would randomly crash/froze, and they could not understand how the basic components of the system would have problems.

A user explained: This is most obvious when using OneDrive to synchronize folders, and it is still very lagging. Using the F11 option to full-screen Windows makes the experience much faster on my installation, but it’s not an effective solution to ensure the fast performance of such a critical core component of Windows.

According to several reports, the whole experience seemed sloppy. Microsoft officials said the company is working hard to improve the performance of the development channel and roll out fixes in newer builds. For example, a bug that caused unnecessary calculations in the command bar was recently fixed.

In addition, it seems that Microsoft’s UI team also plans to focus on performance in 2022. In a Reddit post, when users complained about the slow experience when using WinUI or XAML elements in Windows, the software manufacturer promised to make performance-related fixes.
