American college students can earn a credit for playing the Age of Empires 4 campaign

Starting in 2022, students at the University of Arizona can earn credit by playing Age of Empires 4. This is because Paul Milliman, Associate Professor of Medieval History in the History Department of the University of Arizona, and Alison Futrell, Associate Professor of Roman History, created special content for one of the battles in the game.

If you want to get credits, you need to meet several conditions. Students must first go to a website to complete the courses provided by the two professors. Then, they need to complete four key points in the four battles in the game, and then they can be evaluated. After passing the assessment, the student can earn one credit.

Will McCahill, Commercial Director of Microsoft’s World’s Edge Game Studio, said: Our initial goal was not to cooperate with universities, but after I played this battle for the first time, I conducted a second talk about the Normans with our plot designer. More than ten minutes of conversation. I realized that these contents must be handed over to the students. I think students will certainly be pleasantly surprised to see this unique way of learning history.
