Roblox sues 700,000 fans and YouTubers for harassing developers and players

Roblox sued the notorious YouTuber Benjamin Ruben Sim Simon for allegedly attacking the game’s social media platform and its young fans. On Tuesday, the lawsuit was filed in a California court, demanding that the user pay $1.6 million in damages and stop harassing the employees and players of Roblox.

Polygon first reported the incident, and the lawsuit contains a series of allegations against Simon, who has been profiting from the Roblox video since 2010. These videos covered all aspects, from sexually harassing players he encountered in the game to publicly terrorist threats against the company during the company’s annual meeting.

According to Roblox, this caused the company to temporarily close the Roblox developer conference held in San Francisco last month because it was reported that Simon had released a police search for “Islamic extremists” at the conference. News. The company said it spent $50,000 to investigate these false reports.

Here are some other things Simon was accused in the lawsuit:

Although Simon has been banned from accessing the platform for many years, Roblox believes that he can still access the game through alternative accounts and fake accounts, and still often harass company employees with defamatory remarks. Simon’s YouTube account currently has 700,000 subscribers, and he currently earns more than $600 for every new video he uploads.

Although his behavior is not uncommon in the online gaming world, it is particularly problematic for Roblox, because the company is very popular among children and has a market value of more than $45 billion. Just last month, the company announced that it would amend its community standards to prohibit political and love content from appearing on the platform to promote itself as a safer and more popular place for young players.

Earlier this year, David Baszucki, CEO of Roblox, told Axios that Roblox used 2,000 real employees to review content that might violate its terms of service, but some of the content passed the review. The platform has recently been accused of having difficulty controlling pornographic content.
