The latest update of the Quest headset is online, adding cloud storage and mixed reality cameras

Meta (formerly Facebook) today (December 1) launched another major update of the Oculus Quest series of VR headsets. The update includes cloud storage, mixed reality camera mode, and other features. The cloud storage backup function allows users to restore specific data to the application when they need to replace, update or reset the Quest, including game saves and headset settings. It can be activated in the Device tab of the settings menu.

The mixed reality camera is different from the Live Overlay function in v29. The Live Overlay function allows users to see their bodies from the first perspective of games and applications. The new feature allows users to see and record their use of applications or play games through the phone camera. Meta said there are more than a dozen applications that will support the application, including games such as Superhot VR and Pistol Whip.

Currently, to use this feature, users must have an iPhone XS or a newer version running iOS 11 or later. Currently, Android phones are not supported. The official website incorrectly showed support for Android phones, but it has now been deleted.

The software update also changed the location where the multi-user support set was activated. This feature allows you to add multiple accounts to the headset and share paid applications between accounts. Currently, this feature has been moved from the “Experimental Features” tab to the Account.
