The latest version of macOS Monterey 12.1 fixes the intermittent failure of tap and click

Apple today released the fourth developer beta version of macOS Monterey 12.1. Although the highly anticipated universal control is not yet supported, the latest beta version seems to fix the problem of intermittent failure of tap and click on the touchpad. Since the official version of macOS Monterey was released earlier this year, some users said that tap and click would intermittently fail.

This problem affects a wide range, from the M1 MacBook Air with an integrated trackpad to the Intel iMac with a separate Magic Control Board. After today’s new version of macOS Monterey 12.1 was released, many users said that they did not encounter this problem again. The official version of macOS Monterey 12.1 should be released before the end of this year.
