Google launches fast voice and video call portal in Gmail application

Google announced that it has added the ability to add one-to-one Google Chat voice and video calls to the Gmail application. Prior to this, it was possible to make calls within the Gmail app on iOS and Android, but users had to send Google Meet video conference call invitations. The operation was tortuous and had some limitations.

But in the future, users will be able to click on the new phone and video icons to directly start a conversation, and these icons will appear in the upper right corner of the individual one-to-one chat screen in the Google Chat section of the app.

In addition, users who initiate calls from the Google Chat application will now be transferred to the Gmail application, which highlights Google’s intention to place the Gmail application at the center of its communication platform. This call feature will be available to everyone who has Google Workspace, G Suite, or personal Google account from December 6.
