Apple Watch fall detection feature saves the life of an 85-year-old man

According to the latest report, an elderly resident of Ottawa believed that the Apple Watch saved his life after he fell and the police found him when he was in a coma.

On the evening of November 28, an 85-year-old man living alone in Ottawa fell down at home. The fall made him unconscious and left a wound on his head. Fortunately, his Apple Watch detected his fall, and a minute later, he called 911.

An automatic message was sent to the Ottawa police communicator. According to the Ottawa Police Department’s Instagram post, the correspondent was able to send the police to his location after hearing the man’s breathing and his dog barking in the background.

Constable Andrew Barrett and Constable Damian Levesque arrived at the scene shortly after being dispatched. While waiting for the arrival of medical staff, they bandaged the man’s wound. The police then called the old man’s daughter and told her that her father had fallen.

The old man was taken to the hospital, and the police officer later learned that the doctor believed that the old man would fully recover and be able to spend Christmas with his family.

Apple Watch is often thought to save the wearer’s life after a fall or a heart event. In September, a 24-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after the driver of the accident escaped, when his Apple Watch detected a heavy fall.

In July, a woman in Michigan believed that the Apple Watch had saved her life by detecting her high heart rate-it was caused by a heart attack.
