Samsung refreshed its affordable Galaxy Tab A tablet computer. Compared to low-end products, it has slightly better performance, a slightly larger screen, more storage space, and multitasking capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5 (2021) uses a 10.5-inch LCD with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 px and a 16:10 aspect ratio. This means that compared with Tab A7’s 10.4-inch 15:9 display, the display’s vertical space is slightly larger.
As before, there are four speakers that support Dolby Atmos. The new Tab A8 tablet has built-in entertainment features-Samsung TV Plus provides more than 200 free channels of streaming (live and on-demand, available in certain markets), and you can also get 2 months of YouTube Premium for free.
It can also be transformed into a work tablet, supporting split-screen multitasking and floating windows. In addition, it also supports the drag and split of One UI 3.1.1 launched on the 2020 Galaxy flagship earlier this year, and it runs on Android 11. If you need to participate in a video call, there is a 5-megapixel camera (with a fixed focal length lens) on the front of the fuselage, plus an 8-megapixel camera (autofocus) on the back to take photos and videos.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5″ chipset provides a 10% increase in CPU performance, and the GPU is 10% faster. However, the company has not announced the name of the chipset. Unofficial information indicates that it is from Unisoc Tiger of Unisoc T618, a 12nm process chip, has two Cortex-A75 cores and six A55 cores, plus a Mali G52 MP2 GPU. This replaces the Tab A7 Snapdragon 662 chip (11nm process, four Cortex-A73 and Four cores based on A53, Adreno 610).
Like the previous model, the Galaxy Tab A8 10.5″ basic model is equipped with 3GB of memory and 32GB of storage. This year, a new memory configuration, 4/128GB, above the 4/64GB option, can be inserted into the body to expand the capacity.
Galaxy Tab A8 will come in two versions one with only Wi-Fi communication capability, one with LTE, a wired connection that includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB-C 2.0 port (DeX is not supported, that is only available for S series devices).
This tablet is powered by a 7040mAh battery. Supports 15W fast charging, but in the retail package, users only get a 7.5W charger.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (2021) will be available in Europe later this month. The US and other regions will get it in January. It will be available in gray, silver and new pink gold colors. There is no news about pricing, but the Tab A7 was launched last year at a price of $230.
