Ubuntu 22.04 changes the theme color from purple to orange

Last Friday, Joey Sneddon was at OMG! Ubuntu! I wrote an article on the blog to introduce the fully transformed Ubuntu 22.04 theme color scheme. In the last development cycle, the community once suggested that the Ubuntu development team remove the eggplant purple from the Yaru GTK theme. Although it was not what we wanted, we are about to usher in this change in the Ubuntu 22.04 daily build.

Contributor Frederik Feichtmeier just shared some of the theme designs in the latest development version of Yaru GTK. Although it has shifted from stable purple to vigorous orange, this change still appears less abrupt. One of the motivations behind this change may stem from the introduction of libadwaita. In short, its arrival allows Ubuntu to limit a single accent color (rather than dividing it into several as currently).

In addition to Yaru GTK, Yaru GNOME Shell, GDM, and even Yaru icons have also ushered in the visual impact of Vitality Orange. The fly in the ointment is that the close (x) button of the window control is changed to gray again. As for whether Ubuntu 22.04 will undo/revert the changes before April 2022, it is currently unknown.
