Stop for Pixel 6 – Google no longer delivers December update

Google is stopping delivering the latest updates for some of its own Pixel smartphones. This was already apparent in advance, but it was only weeks later that the manufacturer made public statements on this.

Some have already suspected it and now there is the official announcement from Google in the in-house forum. The delivery of the update for December has been paused. This stop probably applies primarily to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Numerous users complained about bugs and problems that persisted despite 80 bug fixes or even appeared completely new.

After many mistakes: Google stops the rollout of updates for new Pixel 6 models

While I am writing the article, this new post is no longer visible in the Google forum. But it was definitely online, as reported by our monitoring tool. The background could be an update because the article went online with errors or earlier than planned.

Background for the update to be stopped: Google has switched off Assistant functions due to errors, some users lack cellular reception, there are problems with Bluetooth reception and many other things. Most recently, users complained of problems with the touchscreen and even a stuttering system with every percent loss of battery charge.

Fix in January, according to Google

In my opinion the right decision. This time, a large number of errors seem to occur with a really large number of users. Google is currently promising a fix for next January. If you can’t wait that long, you should upload older firmware via flash.android.com – but this is only possible with a factory reset. The latter wouldn’t necessarily be what I’m really looking for.
