Pwn20wnd, a well-known hacker and lead developer of the unc0ver team, today released a new version of unc0ver jailbreak, adding support for iOS/iPadOS 14.6-14.8 to iPhone/iPad equipped with A12 and A13 chips.

Pwn20wnd announced the new version on his personal Twitter account. The version number of the new version is 8.0.0, which is a full version number higher than the previous version. This version adds support for Linus Henze’s Fugu14 untethers to take advantage of the unlimited signatures of unc0ver jailbroken applications.

For those who don’t know, the devices using A12 and A13 chips include all the following devices, if the firmware allows, the new unc0ver version should be supported.

As for the hacking in this new iteration of unc0ver, it seems that Pwn20wnd is using a vulnerability that security researcher @pattern_f_ used in the jailbreak demo, or at least something very similar to it. In that demo, @pattern_f_ exploited a vulnerability of Saar Amar, most of his code is based on an old ipc_kmsg hack. It is said that its speed is better than cicuta_verosa’s loophole.

The changelog for this version also pointed out that this unc0ver v8.0.0 update allows A12-A14 device users to take advantage of Fugu14 unbundling if they are running iOS or iPadOS 14.3. This subset of devices includes devices as old as the iPhone XR and devices as new as the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Anyone who has a supported phone, if you want to experience the updated jailbreak for yourself, you can get it from the official website of unc0ver.dev. Update: unc0ver v8.0.1 fixes the “not supported” error on A12 iPhone running iOS 14.6.
