PC Gamer recently announced the last award of their 2021 selection-Game of the Year, which was finally won by the indie game Temple of Valor.

In the week when The Temple of Valor was released, I sneered and said: Do we really need another forging survival game? Whether we need it or not, my friends and I invested more than 100 hours in a month The appetite formed by the time the Vikings lived shows that we desperately want one.
Hall of Valor looks the same as other survival games. You start to pick up stones and branches, piece together a rough stone ax, and then cut down every tree in front of you. However, in practice, this is full of twists and turns. The building system with support and structural integrity challenged me and made me think of base construction as a technical problem, not just an aesthetic problem.
The food system requires me to consider improving my health and stamina, which leads me to believe that I should spend a little time cooking because I don’t bother to do this in other games. Small touches, such as the need to touch resources before discovering what I can make with them, I feel a little extra joy.
In the end, all my friends want to spend countless late nights together, planning some large sailing expeditions, crossing the ocean that we have not yet crossed or entered the swamp. This is where I like Hall of Valor. Millions of people spent two months immersed in an early access game made by a small studio. This is the kind of magic of PC games that I admire. We can easily call this the pinnacle of our year.
