Over the years, Google has equipped its own camera app with more and more functions. Of these, I primarily like to use one feature. However, not in the way that Google thought of it. Pixel users should know Top-Photo.
The Google Camera function has been around for a while, but unfortunately, there is still one factor missing from this function. Actually, top photo is intended to allow you to use a better frame from a shot. Basically, a small video is recorded just before and while you take a photo.
Top photo in the camera app: GIFs and videos can be exported to Google Photos
It is true that you should be able to find a better moment of a picture with the top photo. For example, the moment when everyone in the photo has opened their eyes. But I like the effect of the top photo that you have a short video for every shot. Especially with children and cats, amusing, moving images are often made during a photo.
I usually export these moving images as GIFs for the family and, of course, for ourselves. You can do this via Google Photos. But what I am missing for the comparable function from Apple is an additional recording of the sound. The GIFs or videos that you can export are unfortunately always silent. But even without sound, I hate to do without top photos, funny short videos have just been produced far too often for that.
