Android 13 features are leaking on a daily basis. Recently we have seen leaks related to the Profile switcher, Output picker, Scanning QR codes, and more.
According to the new report from the Android Police, Android 13 is making notifications a permission setting. As in, for an app to harass your notification bar, pinging you with impunity, it has to actually ask you to do that first.
Android 13 new notification permissions to look like this:
If nothing changes between now and Android 13’s release, when an app on Android 13 requests the new POST_NOTIFICATIONS runtime permission for the first time, you’ll be greeted with a dialog similar to that shown above.
