Windows 11 Dev Preview Build 22533 released

Microsoft today pushed the preview version of Win11 Build 22533 to Dev preview users. Microsoft said that this version resets the weather widget on the taskbar and has made several improvements, and the ISO file can be downloaded here.

The Your Phone app rolls out a new calling experience, including a new ongoing call window with updated icons, fonts, and other UI changes, in line with Windows 11 ‘s improved design.

Changes & Improvements:

  • Updated pop-up designs for hardware indicators for brightness, volume, camera privacy, the camera on/off, and airplane mode to align with Windows 11 design principles. These new eject buttons will appear when the user presses the volume or brightness keys on the laptop and will support light/dark modes for a more coherent Windows experience.
  • Users can search for Voice Access from the taskbar and pin Voice Access to the taskbar, or start and turn it on/off like any other application.
  • The rollout of 13 Touch Keyboard themes to IME, Emoji Panel, and Voice Input (first introduced in Build 22504) is being expanded to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
  • When the user presses WIN + X or right-clicks the start icon, the menu shows “Installed Apps” instead of “Apps and Features”.
  • The Clock app already supports uninstallation.

Conventional:

  • Fixed an issue where Insiders might see error 0x8007012a during a driver or firmware update.
  • Addressed an issue that caused Insiders to sometimes be unable to log in to certain apps, such as Feedback Hub.
  • Fixed the text in the Exploit Protection description in the Windows Security app to only refer to Windows and not Windows 10 .
  • Fixed an issue that prevented importing photos from certain cameras and phones into the Photos app (looping forever with 0 items found so far).
  • Launching Windows Sandbox, closing it, and launching it again no longer results in two Windows Sandbox icons in the taskbar (one of which is not working).

Mission Board:

  • The Wi-Fi icon should now appear in the taskbar more reliably.
  • explorer.exe will no longer crash if a user has multiple monitors connected to the PC and right-clicks the date and time on the primary monitor’s taskbar.
  • Holding CTRL and hovering over the Task View icon in the taskbar no longer crashes explorer.exe.

Set up:

  • Mitigates a potential issue related to the use of mica in Settings that affected the overall reliability of the Settings application in recent versions.
  • Fixed an issue affecting some internal users that caused Settings to crash when trying to access Installed Apps, Launch Apps, and Default Apps pages.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the mouse page in Settings to crash when adding an action to an app.
  • Users no longer hear crackling when playing audio and repeatedly tap the volume slider in Quick Settings to change the volume.

Window:

  • A tooltip showing the full window name will now appear if you hover over ALT+Tab or a window title in Task View.

Enter:

  • Improved the appearance of text colors and buttons with themes applied in the candidate window, emoji panel, and clipboard (previously, some buttons/text were hard to see with some custom background colors).
  • The voice input launcher should no longer unexpectedly reappear after tapping the microphone icon to invoke voice input.
  • Assistive tools like Magnifier and Narrator should now work better for internal users with the updated input switcher experience.

Known issues:

Start Menu:

  • In some cases, it may not be possible to enter text when searching from the start menu or taskbar. If you encounter this problem, press WIN + R on your keyboard to launch the Run dialog, then close it.

Mission Board:

  • The taskbar sometimes flickers when switching input methods.

Search:

  • The search panel may not open after clicking the search icon on the taskbar. If this happens, restart the Windows Explorer process and open the search panel again.

Set up:

  • When viewing a list of available Wi-Fi networks, the signal strength indicator does not reflect the correct signal strength.
  • Settings may crash when going to System > Display > HDR.
  • There is a blank entry under Bluetooth and Devices.

Widget:

  • Changing the alignment of the taskbar causes widget buttons to disappear from the taskbar.
  • When there are multiple monitors, the widget content on the taskbar may become out of sync across monitors.
  • When the taskbar is left-aligned, information such as temperature is not displayed, which will be fixed in a future update.
